New to Harness Racing

I'm wondering if this idea is feasable. I attended the USTA's driving school in Ohio this year and loved it. I have a passion for harness racing and from talking with other students in class took the leap of being involved with my first ownership of a standardbred. However, I live near St. Louis and no harness racing exists anymore at Fairmont Park since the casino's rolled into town.
I am interested in learning more about the training and care of the horse hands on....

How to find a trotting race?

I'am a trotting fan from Finland (north Europe) and I am spending this semester in Emporia, Kansas. I really want to experience a trotting race in the USA, however I have problem because I can't find any trotting tracks or race at Kansas state.

I have used USTA's and racetracks' own web pages, like The Meadowlands. I can't find any race which I would be sure that it is trotting-not riding (pace?) race. If I travel to somewhere and book flights and hotels, I will...

So I went to my first harness race this last summer and I fell absolutely in love with it! I am really starting to consider getting into the industry and I want to learn all about it, but I can't seem to find any solid information about the industry. Another thing is, is that I am in Minnesota and it doesn't seem like there are any standardbred farms here, unless someone knows of them? Just seems like we have the Running Aces harness park. Introducing friends to harness racing

What are some ways you've gotten your friends into harness racing? I don't live close enough to a track to take everyone out for the night. And they certainly aren't up for a long drive to see something they're not interested in and none of us gamble so I can't really spark their interest from that angle either :)

As someone that is relatively new to the sport I was wondering...

If you could only go to one race each year, which one would it be? I guess I'm asking, what's your favorite race in harness racing and why?

The only big race I've been to is the Little Brown Jug and I really enjoy it. But I've always wondered how it compares to the other big races (Meadowlands Pace, NA Cup, Hambletonian, Breeders Crown, etc).

Just curious to hear your thoughts!
