.... the Q City government is lobbying to have a new sports arena built in order to draw a hockey team back into the fold.
The Nordiques stunk up the joint, couldn't draw a fan base, so moved to become the CO Rockies, yet the city will put up $50mil and is lobbying for the Federal and Provincial govt's to kick in $175 mil each.
The new arena will have super boxes and the rest of the bells and whistles but - #1, if your team can't win the Cup now and then, why bother - and #2, what team would want to move there and get taxed to death.
Certainly some of that $$$ could have been used to help save an existing sport / industry and 100s of jobs.
