it seems every week some high profile trainer is quoted "he scoped bad" after the race in describing a less than outstanding performance from a top rated horse.
while the overnight results will show most every track with several sick scratches.

This year has been bad for some reason. Seems there are sick horses all over. In our barn it seems to just keep going around. As soon as a horse gets healthy, someone else in the barn scopes sick and the cycle starts all over again... A few horses that got really sick in the spring have never come back to race good since. :( |

1 The word "SICK" on a (SCRATCH) listing resault can cover any number of types of sickness. 2.This past year (at least in the N.E.) the weather I believe has played a major role in all the sickness. The Spring and Summer seasons were very wet and humid, that helps fuel respiratory and fungral infections. |

Normac you allso have to understand that horses hide there sickness & there lameness very well alot of times you dont find out till you race its from there
old predator instinks to hide there injury so as not to appear the weak one of the herd

This is a major reason nebulizers are popular. If a horse "scopes poorly" he either bled (use lasix) or some other abnormality is present. Some
treatments include bronchdialators (be careful of pre-race threshhold-consult reputable vet), or antibiotics if viral infection appears. Get lab reports of
swabs before deciding on course of action.
