I wish Red were around when we were running 60 head of 2-3yr olds. Johnny was great at allowing outside participation, and he often left me in charge of breaking in green help. He was also great at letting interested parties go a few slow miles, usually at the jog with company. Folks who appeared interested in investment opportunities were encouraged to grab the lines and go a trip as well (with carefully selected stock, of course....). I really think that is an important part of our sport that seems to be lacking....ambassadors. The Simpsons were great with visitors of all types, unlike many who shun the opportunity.

Hey Hanover1, I'd like to see you and a couple of the other helpful people in the Sphere run a one week course. You fellas would be perfect for the job. We know RedBowTie is 52 if their age is correct, a little late to start a career in the groom business if he/she has no experience yes/no? I have a feeling from my experience that a good groom needs years of hands on training to actually get to the point that they can handle the job on their own. The key is hands on like everything else, so much easier to learn when you do the work, yes? Heck, this could be something a lot of people would be interested in if horses are their passion, myself included. Let's be honest, it not the greatest paying job as some threads have pointed out if your looking for a new job RBT. It's not easy work either, good luck RBT as you follow your passion.

Harmerfan, it doesn't surprise me that Ontario had some programs like that. Perhaps the U would be interested in taking a look had having something similar to the driver's school which I hear is a excellent course.

Be honest fellas, how much can you learn in a week? It doesn't seem like very long to learn the tricks of the trade. I heard a great line in a commercial, it went something like this, you don't become an expert knowing 4,000 different things, you become an expert doing one thing 4,000 times. Makes sense to me.....
